Thinkopolis is a micro-podcast about the people, events and oddities of western civilization. Each episode is only 2 to 3 minutes in length. Created by Chas Holloway, Thinkopolis is a prototype for the new age of what used to be called “newspaper columns.”
Columnists have been a staple of the newspaper business for 150+ years. Names like Walter Winchell, Art Buchwald, Dear Abby, Dave Barry, are famous examples. Newspapers have died, digital media has risen, but columnists never made the transition from print to audio/video.
Syndication companies (King Features, Creators Syndicate, Andrews-McMeel) still distribute hundreds of columnists, but ONLY in print. And how many people want to follow print columnists, anymore?
The future is in audio/video.
There is a huge opportunity to make money in micro-podcasting, WITHOUT ad revenue, WITHOUT subscriptions, but through syndication fees — the future is audio and/or video columns and columnists.
Maybe you’ve heard that podcast companies are in trouble because ad revenue has collapsed. Micro-podcasting — like Thinkopolis — is the future of of the podcast industry.
Chas Holloway has done massive research on this new format, and has formed a company to create and distribute micropodcasts. If you would like information, please contact him at: chas@freeworldtheory.com.
