Biosphere 2 is a large, enclosed ecosystem in Arizona designed as a research facility to study and simulate Earth’s ecosystems, originally constructed in the early 1990s. It aimed to explore the feasibility of closed ecological systems to support human life in space by creating a self-sustaining environment with diverse biomes, including rainforests, deserts, oceans, and agriculture. The initial mission involved eight scientists living inside for two years to test the system’s viability. Steve Bannon was its Project Director.
